My plot bunnies are going through a small population explosion at the moment. I've started three fics in the past week and have ideas for three more that I really, really want to write. This always happens at the start of a new season. New episodes make for really good plot bunny food. So much for hoping I'd actually finish the stuff I started a year ago when this last happened. All I've managed to finish so far is this drabblish thing.
Title: At the Roadside
Characters: Sam, Dean
Rating/Warnings: G
Genre: Character Study, Drabble
Word Count: 223
Spoilers: None
Summary: Roadside confessions and Winchester denial.
At the Roadside
By Daylight
Sam and Dean do not stop at the side of the road to share their feelings.
They are men and they are Winchesters.
Yes, sometimes during a long drive Sam will request a stop to stretch his legs, because though the Impala has decent leg room, Sam’s legs still need more. Or Dean will request a beer break, because driving is thirsty work and Dean does not drink and drive, at least not at the same time. Sometimes one or the other will point out a nice view and they’ll stop, because it’s good to have something to look at while you’re stretching your legs and drinking beer.
More often these days they don’t say a thing. Dean will simply pull over at some place that feels right and Sam will quietly get out and fetch the beer from the trunk.
But they don’t do it so they can talk about their feelings or confess their secrets.
No chick flick moments as Dean once said.
If they happen to exchange words during these times, it’s simply to debrief each other about their previous job or prepare for the next.
And if during this Sam and Dean happen to be able to read through every sarcastic comment and raised eyebrow to know exactly how the other is feeling…
Well, they are brothers after all.

*passes you pie*
