A poetic drabble or a drabblish poem. One or the other.
Title: Three Millennia Later
Characters: Castiel
Rating: G
Genre: Drabble/Poem
Word Count: 122
Spoilers: None
Summary: It's three millennia later and Castiel hasn't forgotten.
Three Millennia Later
By Daylight
Three millennia later.
And Castiel still wears the same body in the same crumpled suit.
He looks more like a ghost from the past than an angel, but he doesn’t care, just repairs another bloody tear in the long, beige coat.
Three millennia later.
And Castiel still takes the time to savour a sip of coffee, watch children as they play, gaze up at the stars.
It’s the small things that matter, someone told him once.
Three millennia later.
And Castiel still shrugs his shoulders and rolls his eyes. Sometimes he even smiles and laughs.
Sometimes he cries.
Three millennia later.
And Castiel still visits that small corner of heaven where a black car drives down a never ending road.

Date: 2010-07-18 04:06 am (UTC)I was so ready to get my heart broken. From the title alone, I coulda guessed how it must be only Cas that remains, carrying the memories- and lemme tell you- those types of stories kill me dead. SO FREAKIN SAD.
Beginning with the world-weariness of immortality, then appreciating the "the small things that matter" 'cause he REMEMBERS, and then the evidence of just how much that certain someone has changed the angel...!
Then what do you hit us with next? My gawd. Three millenlia later, visiting that small corner of heaven...! *frantic hand gestures*
;____; It's actually a REALLY happy ending and yet your drabblish poem STILL makes me want to cry. Kudos.

He gets to visit Dean...I wonder, though, does he get to see Dean in that heaven, or is it just that Castiel gets the comfort of knowing Dean is there?
This drabble triggered so many thoughts in me. I thank you for that! I'm glad you wrote this. :D
