Updated Master Fic List

I spent most of yesterday evening finally updating the master fic list for my journal since it had been a while since I had done that. Turns out a while was actually almost four years and about 30 fics ago and the reason I haven't been updating it is because the formatting keeps screwing up when I try to update and I keep having to fix it, so it took me a long time, but this was good because I was able to completely ignore what else was going on in the rest of the world.

No NaNo

I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year which is making me feel rather guilty, not that I'm going to miss the pressure of having to write all those words, but I will miss the camaraderie and the craziness. I debated about it for a long time, I always do, but I just don't want to end up with another 50,000 words which I'll never get around to editing. I thought about spending the month editing one of my old NaNos but I still have all these Legends stories trying to pour out of me. (Using 'pour' makes it sound like my writing flows out of me instead of coming in fits and starts like it actually does.) So no NaNo, but I checked my AO3 stats the other day and considering I've already managed to write and post over 50,000 words this year, I'm pretty happy with my writing at the moment. (And considering how much unfinished fic I have, it could be that I've actually written twice that amount.) Anyway, maybe next year?

I've been a little neglectful about posting stuff in places other than AO3 for the past couple weeks, so I'm now playing catch up. Here are the first four stories in a collection about Rip and the team. I'm really indulging in my silly side here while at the same time exploring the whole team as family with Rip as the much beleaguered father. Therefore in terms of genre I'm calling this crack with a side of fluff. It's the weather's fault. In these dark, wet days, I feel the need to write stuff which is light and heartwarming.

Since there was so much Mick angst in the last fic I wrote, I felt that Mick could use a little love (I actually started writing this before I even finished the last one) And I am of course a complete sucker for hugs especially seeing characters who are generally non-huggers in a realistic situation where they hug or are hugged, so I had to write this.

It's done though I'm not sure entirely sure about this ending. I could only take things so far because I wanted it to stay relatively close to canon and since it takes place before the last few episodes and Rip and Leonard are obviously not that close in those few episodes, I couldn't make them best friends. Hopefully what I wrote works anyway and is a satisfying ending. I would rather like to write fic where Rip and Leonard are friends. The type of friends who snark at each other and drive each other insane but still really care about each other. I also rather like the idea of Rip, Leonard, Mick, and Sara as a foursome, not a romantic foursome but a friendship foursome, a weird dysfunctional group of friends who annoy each other but look after each other. Of course, then I end up leaving out the rest of the team and they're so lovely as one big dysfunctional family.

This was supposed to be a shortish piece involving Rip and Snart having a conversation in a prison cell, but since it was a prison cell, Snart, of course, had to escape and things got a little out of control. On the plus side, I've finally written something long with actual action and a real plot for the first time in ages. The draft is done (about 13,000 words, 4 chapters and an epilogue) so it will definitely get finished but don't expect it to be posted too quickly. I'm a slow nitpicky editor and I keep adding and rewriting bits.
