[Supernatural Fic] Levels of Insanity

What do you do when you have too many fanfics to finish? Start a new one. I actually had this idea before I saw the last episode but it kind of fit in fairly well with what happened. It's one of those stories that could have gone either silly or dark, but I went for dark.

Why is it when I really want to write, when I have multiple plot bunnies jumping in my brain and inspiration dribbling out my ears, do I always end up ridiculously busy with other stuff? Oh, and now also sick. Blah.

There's Power Rangers on the subway I tell you. I heard one of their communicators go off, but the train was crowded and I couldn't pinpoint the source. Then a few seconds later I reached my stop and had to get off. I'll catch them next time!

Half-formed Supernatural plot bunnies:

1. Trains. Why haven't there been any stories about Sam and Dean on a train? Sam and Dean and the haunted train. Sam and Dean riding on a freight train like hobos.

2. The Care and Feeding of Angels. One title, so many possibilities. There was a Lord of the Rings fic called The Care and Feeding of Hobbits by someone I can't remember. It was very good.

3. Someone should write a story called Angels Don't Eat Bananas. I don't know what it would be about, but it would be good.

I'm finally finishing things! I've been wanting to write this missing scene ever since the episode aired, but I kept getting stuck. I ended up scraping everything and restarting from the beginning twice. Hopefully, it's good now though admittedly it could be longer. I only seem to be good at writing short stuff.

For my birthday, I got myself new glasses! I've only been meaning to do that for about three years. Okay, technically I didn't actually get them specifically for my birthday, but I picked them out last week and since they had to order in the lenses, they were only ready yesterday, so I'm saying they're for my birthday.

I wanted to post a fic as a birthday gift to everyone, but I'm currently going through a 'I hate everything I write stage' and can't seem to finish anything. So I'll just send everyone love and hugs instead.

Cutting Cutting Cutting

I think my writing process is getting weirder or maybe just messier and more picky.

I wrote 2500 words of a tag to Supernatural 7x17, got stuck, cut out a 1000 words, and started the whole story from a different point. Then I wrote another 1000 words of the story, got a bit stuck again, and started hating it. So I cut the story in two, cut out about 500 words, and added 750 words to one of the parts. Now, I have the drafts of two different tags to 7x17 (one of which I think is technically already an AU) Hopefully, I can polish these off and post them before I get in the mood to start cutting things up again.

Updating, Organizing, Tidying

My DW journal finally has a master fanfic list on it, only about two years after I put one on my LJ journal. While doing this, I also realized I hadn't updated the one on LJ for the past 6 fics (oops) so now that's updated too. All my tags on DW & LJ have been organized slightly and updated, my DW journal style has been tweaked and tidied up, and my DW userpics have been switched around a bit. Now I think I'll go change my LJ journal style for the hundredth time.

Can you tell I'm procrastinating again?

I've pretty much given up on actually accomplishing anything this month. I blame it on a stressful November and December from which I am only just recovering. I'm just spending most of my spare time watching through eight and a half seasons of NCIS.

I have, however, finally joined twitter (I don't think that really counts as an accomplishment). I only joined because I was regularly checking the twitter accounts of three different people and decided I might as well just give in and follow them. So, I am under days_of_light, if anyone wants to follow me. I'm not sure I'm actually going to tweet anything, but you can follow me anyway in case I randomly decided to one day. But I would like to follow people on my f-list if you have twitter and welcome any suggestions of interesting people to follow. I'm currently following starandrea, Misha Collins, Mathew Gray Gubler, and someone who posts weird summaries of episodes from an imaginary season 8 of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

[Supernatural Fics] When All is Lost & Good Things Do Happen

These two fics sort of go together. It was actually supposed to be one fic. I was feeling really down in mid November and felt the need to write something really angsty with a happy ending, but when I wrote it, it kind of split in two. So now you can read the happy ending without the angst or the angst without the happy ending, or simply read both.

So there's only a couple hours left and despite the giant sprint forward of the past week, I'm obviously not going to get out the 15,000 more words I need to win, but I'm currently looking at it this way: 35,000 is much better than the 2,500 words I wrote last year which was much better than the year before that when I signed up but wrote nothing which was better than the year before that when I did nothing at all. At this rate hopefully, I'll win next year.

The story I wrote is actually almost done. I still alternate between thinking its crap and thinking it's pretty good so I don't know if I'll get around to posting it or not. I'd still need to finish it off and then do some editing (I have a list of things that I need to go back and change). Unfortunately, my brain was taken over by another rabid plot bunny yesterday, so I just spent the past couple hours writing 1000 words of something completely different.

Has anyone else tried Written Kitten? It rewards you with a new cat photo for every 100 words you write and I think it might have actually cured my writer's block. I didn't think I'd be able to write anything today and suddenly I have a 1000 words.

[Supernatural Fic] Stray Thoughts and Sleeping Angels

This is me trying to create a moment in time, and not a very happy one. This is me trying to draw a picture with words, because I'm not so good with a pencil. This is me playing with repetition because I've always loved the use of it in storytelling. But mostly, this is me skiving off writing more of my NaNo stuff as I get further and further behind in my word count. It's really all the plot bunnies' fault though. They come in the night and whisper words into my ears.
